Keewatin Air
Keewatin Air was established by a former Lamb Air pilot, Frank Robert May, and his wife Judy Saxby. May’s experience in northern aviation combined with a demand for charter air services in the Keewatin Region (now known as Kivalliq Region) contributed to Keewatin Air’s growth; It began with a fleet of modified Beech 18 and the Swearingen Merlin IIA, but has since upgraded to a modern fleet consisting of turboprops Pilatus PC-12 and King Air 200/B200, as well as the Cessna Citation V. Keewatin Air also became the first air operator in Canada to welcome the Pilatus PC-24 jet aircraft fitted with advanced Medevac equipment and gravel landing capabilties, allowing it to provide reliable aeromedical services to remote communities.
As part of the Manitoba Aviation Council (MAC) career fairs, trading cards branded with the Keewatin Air logo and aircraft were released in 2026. Intended as marketing for both aviation students and pilots, these cards share similar design to its counterparts made by MAC and larger dimensions than the average trading card, coming in at 9.2cm by 7.0cm. Hardshell top-loaders are recommended over card sleeves to ensure minimal damage when storing these cards.
Fun fact: The Pilatus PC-24 serves not only as an iconic bird in Keewatin Air’s fleet, but also boasts a well-earned reputation of a truly modern air ambulance. A card on the PC-24 was generously provided by a community member who also serves as a Medevac pilot on the exact same aircraft featured on the card!
