Perimeter Aviation

Perimeter Aviation started its humble beginnings in 1960 as the first flight school in Canada to provide the Instrument Flight Rating (IFR), one of the most important qualifications for pilots worldwide. After expanding to charter flights and aircraft maintenance, Perimeter acquired its hangar in 1964 and some of Transair’s routes and aircraft in 1976. The addition of flight routes into northern Manitoba and De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otters allowed Perimeter to continue its growth into jet aircraft and eventually regional airliners in 1978.

Perimeter established its current role as Manitoba’s largest airline and essential air service provider to northern communities through its acquisition of Swearingen Metroliners and De Havilland Dash-8 aircraft that are still used today. In addition to some scheduled and charter flights, the Metroliners are used primarily in the Aeromed division, providing medevac flight services to remote areas only accesible by fixed-wing air ambulances. The Dash-8 fleet, on the other hand, are more prominent in Perimeter’s scheduled flights that vary from large airports to remote gravel strips.

As part of the Manitoba Aviation Council (MAC) career fairs, trading cards branded with the Perimeter Aviation logo and aircraft were released at an unknown date, most likely late-2024 to mid-2025. Intended as marketing for both aviation students and pilots, these cards share similar design to its counterparts made by MAC and larger dimensions than the average trading card, coming in at 9.2cm by 7.0cm. Hardshell top-loaders are recommended over card sleeves to ensure minimal damage when storing these cards.
